Good Acquaintance

Despite the title, I must admit I have never encountered Vivre before. And yet, I am immediately transported back to the 70s; Vivre simply feels familiar to me. I am greeted right away by a well-known aldehyde-bergamot note, and as was customary back then, some green and herbal elements follow closely behind. At first,...

Challenging start with a desire for more

Bal de Roses makes it hard for me. The scent makes it hard for me to like it, but I also can't bring myself to dislike it. So I have to try to approach it from an angle: I only love floral scents when they are not too flowery or cloying. Neither is the case here. The rose does not play the main role according to my nos...

Unexpectedly Often

I came to the opportunity to test Cereus fragrances like a virgin to a child. I have no idea how the company got my address, as I have never had any dealings with them and have never been on their website. But a letter arrived from Cereus Product Development in Santa Ana, USA, with 3 samples. The only connection I have...

Synthetic-Looking Nature

I have always avoided the scents from CB I Hate Perfume. I can't quite describe why. On one hand, the presentation of the perfumes didn't appeal to me. But perhaps I am just too conservative. People who hate perfumes can't possibly create dream scents. So simple - so wrong and so shortsighted, because elsewhere I have...

Cough Drops - Dosage: 40 drops pure, not on sugar

I probably made a similar face after I cautiously approached Loriani first on the scent strip. After all, I was warned in advance. After a while, the medicinal note disappears and now the "perfume" resembles more the exhaust of the Greek restaurant nearby. I can follow the culinary spice comparisons in the comments bel...

Beyond the Horizon, It Goes On!

Fragrances that we classify as summery usually have citrus notes, exotic fruits, and spices that conjure up the Caribbean or other dream destinations, transporting us olfactorily to warmer realms. We associate them with vacation, carefreeness, warmth, and plenty of sunshine. None of this applies to Vertine, and yet I c...

Summerly Fine

Orlane is primarily known to me as a cosmetics brand. However, this brand has also become quieter in recent times. You hardly see it in the usual perfume departments anymore. I had no idea that Orlane also has fragrances in its range. Fleus d`Orlane lives up to its name. It is a subtle, light floral scent that presents...

Well, yes...

...I have to somewhat relativize the description of Medusa. I wouldn't want to compare it at all with Paloma Picasso and Jai Òso, not even in relation, because those are much darker and truly Chypre fragrances. Here we are dealing more with a spicy, rich floral scent. For a Chypre, I miss more pronounced hesperidic not...
