The Big Disappointment

So much has been said about Aventus that it hardly seems worth it to add to the conversation and noise. However, I believe there are fragrance newbies who have the same thoughts and philosophy about fragrance as I do, so I want to tell my experience with this scent: Around 4 years ago, I first found out about fragrances that were not sold at the counter at M...

A cool and ash like, smoky aroma

Contrary to the views about this fragrance,I can barely detect the scent of pineapple. In the early minutes I smell Birch, bergamot and red apple come into my olfactory. After about 15 minutes, the apple scent becomes weaker. The smell of moss and inky notes of black currant is added as well as the scent of birch becomes stronger.Consequently , smoky aroma and...

Aventus

Aventus was apparently created by Baltazar Creed in 0 AD as a gift for baby Jesus. After the formula was rediscovered in 2010, the scent has received plenty of accolades as being a great complement getter. For me this is a solid neutral. It's fruity, it's smoky, it's very average. The citrus/apple top never truly merges with the rest of the composition. Proj...

Just Alright, And *Way* Overpriced...

I love the pineapple opening. Who could have thought that someone who dislikes the smell of pineapple could be impressed by a pineapple scent? Impressed I was indeed though with the opening of Aventus. The pineapple is not in your face, but rather supports the fresh citrus and synthetic top notes, and just "works." Unfortunately, things go south from there....

AVENTUS by Creed

I was asked to sample Aventus while visiting the fragrance counter at Neiman Marcus one afternoon. I was already wearing something at the time so, I declined. The Creed product specialist insisted on spraying Aventus on a sample card for me to experience. Not always the best way to experience a fragrance but I found it interesting, so I asked for a sample to...

Never heard of it!?

That was my first reaction when I held a sample of it in my hands. However, I didn't expect much, considering the reviews given here. So here we go… right from the first spray, a scent unfolds that cannot be compared to any other. At least none that I know. A fresh and only slightly sharp bergamot combined with a sprinkle of pink pepper and a dash of ginger...

“I feel sorry for people who don’t drink. When they wake up in the morning, that’s as good as they’re going to feel all day…” - Frank Sinatra

A sweet-citrusy start, rising directly to the nose, admittedly somewhat synthetic, but somehow also very delicious. The section in the upscale department store where high-quality, but also fully sugared fruit candies are freely displayed. All three, lime, orange, grapefruit are very balanced in the trio. After 15 minutes, the very sweet, lovely brandy joins...

A Jack of All Trades

An abandoned bar, the bartender refills the nearly empty brandy, the cigar is half-smoked. Thoughts drift away - but the scent remains. Freshly sprayed, you can smell the orange with a lemon in the background. But definitely always a bar of chocolate surrounding it! The tonka bean, everyone perceives a slightly different scent note here, comes through strong...

It is green and...

... as large as the lawn in my garden. I have hired a gardening service to take care of the garden. They sent a young, fit guy today who took off his shirt and is mowing my lawn in the sweat of his brow. I'm sitting on the terrace with my leg in a cast, watching him, and I get the scent of freshly mowed grass in my nose, along with the fresh aromas from the...

This Damn Gardener

It's so easy not to like him. He's not very intelligent, works too slowly, and chuckles at his own jokes (which are mostly a bit childish). But when you sit down for a beer after a job well done, you quickly realize that he may not be the brightest candle on the cake, but he's always hardworking, giving his best, and sometimes you actually catch yourself smi...

hyacinth

he Tauerville line started surreptitiously with a perfume called Rose Flash. It was initially a limited release and wore the familiar "Tauer" label, though the small print contained something new: "Tauerville Collection." By the time it was released more widely it proudly wore the Tauerville badge on the front of the bottle. Hyacinth and a Mechanic also bear...

gone is not gone

One more hug, a smile, and he is gone: From our loving, playful summer hours, only his scent remains in the pillows, on my skin, in the hotel room. And even this will soon fade, soon only be a memory. A spicy-green memory of the loving hours in the shade of densely leafy, fruit-bearing citrus trees, of the play of his strong, yet so sensitive hands with the...
