Bottega Veneta pour Homme (un)revisited
Just a more concentrated version of Bottega Veneta pour Homme for whom can't appreciate the classy lightness of the original. Completely identical to it to any extent, just a bit bolder. Given there's no other difference, I prefer the original just because of its subtlety. 6/10
Solid for the price
L’Homme Exceptionnel by Montblanc is nothing exceptional, but it’s really nice in the less exciting meaning ever. It is basically a pedantic but perfectly enjoyable cedar-amber scent infused with a sweet-zesty orange head note, and some synthetic patchouli to give a hint of “dark class”. Nothing more and nothing less t...

Shrug. Next!
Essence de Cerruti opens as a heavily synthetic sort of balsamic musk blend, kind of creamy and minty, with something smelling like fresh violet and sweet woods (imitation sandalwood, imitation cedar). I surely get amber, and also a fruity-citrus note, but I completely miss the leather initially. Just a quite nondescri...

Wrong gone wronger
Well, how to start with this... the opening of Ragù (which means “meat sauce” in Italian, for whatever obscure association with the scent) is a completely synthetic and kind of harsh galore which – involuntarily, I guess – reminded me of some of the least interesting “post-industrial/dark-contemporary/synthetic-avantga...

Pillar!
J’adore is one of those modern classics we may take for granted: it’s solid, always pleasant in pretty much any circumstance, stylish yet undemanding and carefree. A soapy-fruity blend with a fresh, invigorating opening of bergamot notes and peach, then white flowers, vanilla, a silky and clean jasmine “deprived” of it...

Rochas Man's duller clone (+ Jil Sander Man, Body Kouros & Bulgari Black..)
The Intense version of S.T. Dupont pour Homme opens nearly exactly as the reformulated version of Rochas Man, just a bit less gourmand and more dry, a bit more musky, more leaning towards synthetic leather and saffron. Overall a bit more cheap and plain too; but the similarity is quite evident for me. Take away a bit o...

Frankenstein!
“Forte” means “strong” in Italian, and boy, this is strong. I am not sure if my bottle is corrupted, but Eaux de Caron Forte is the closest thing I’ve ever smelled to the stale, moldy smell of barnyard after the rain. It’s all here: mossy, green, more pungent and “acrid” than simply citric, with nuances of wet hay, mus...
