Verily

Why is there no chocolate/cocoa note at the top of this page? I believe it's cocoa I smell, or could better noses be telling me it's hazlenut? It is on the synthetic side but it is great and for choco lovers it has to be a nice aroma to take in while it's there. It projects, decent life-span and of course gourmanish-I think the ladies love it. Givenchy tends to be above average on the whole designer/brand scent charts so you should end up happy with your purchase if it is a blind one. I think it is an all around type of scent, not too dressy or too "dressed down" and the ladies at the office should love it. Cheers!

A little irresistible

Minty hazelnuts with hints of chocolate. Actually a great fragrance that may be irresistible (or not). For me it's very unique and it has a good lasting power (over 8 hours), nice projection and good sillage. Sweet in the right amount. Great scent that deserves at least a try. Thumbs up! Dark mint chocolate

The first thing I thought of when I tried this fragrance was that it was a masculine version of Angel by Thierry Mugler. Chocolate is really dominant in Very Irrestible for Men. It's like a gourmand fragrance for men, which is often hard to come by. They do say that bacon is a man's favourite smell, so why don't they produce more foody-smelling scents for men? I quite like chocolate on a man. In this fragrance it is rich and syrupy. Almost dark in a sense. The hazelnut and mint only add to its deliciousness, however the grapefruit in the opening gives this fragrance a bit of a zesty and fruity feel. The colour of the bottle tends to confuse me into thinking that I can smell a greeness in this fragrance, however when I sniff more closely I contradict that thought. The woodsy drydown with the now softened chocolate note is something to die for. I can safely define this fragrance as being very sexy. The lasting power is good, however it could be better. But despite all of that, I think that Very Irresistible is a very irrestible buy.

Loud woody green gourmand

On the verge of being discontinued... that's why I was given a full tester-bottle of "Givenchy for Men Very Irrésistible" for free yesterday. A tenacious fragrance with many components: mint leaf combined with a cocktail of sesame-mocha and hazelnut wood. The result is a woody gourmand which is not as smooth as you might expect. The chocolate-mint-note is a bit weird and the woody base quite synthetic boardering on the unpleasant. Very powerful sillage, but sadly not in the least irresistible.

After eight, patchouli.

I have to agree. This smells to mint chocolate. Or chocolate mint. There is indeed a variety of a mint hybrid (Mentha x pipperita `Chocolate Mint´) that is curiously mint-chocolate scented, but i have no idea if that is the one that was used in here. Strangely enough, the notes list doesnt contain cocoa, although, again, the illusion of chocolate is very vivid. In my research i found out coffee and sesame were also listed in other sites. Mystery solved. Coffee and cocoa are brothers... I personally believe that it might be the accord "coffee/roasted-hazelnut/oily-sesame" what gives this unmistakable mouthwatering chocolate scent. It starts as a fresh, green blast of citrus and mint, very cooling. Very soon the mysterious accord takes over: whatever it is, mint chocolate or chocolate mint, it reminds to the english "after eight" sweets, which are candies, yes, but to be eaten when kids are off to bed, and taste adult and sophisticated. And so, VI is a an adult, sophisticated gourmand at this stage. The nutty quality makes it specially yummy. Patchouli is noticeable in the background, rich and luxurious. After a while, the enjoyable chocolate (and the mint) are sadly vanished. Then patchouli steps out, along with some pencil shavings. I love pencil shavings, and i have a very high tolerance to caustic sawmill wood scents (which is not the case of Very Irresistible) but i find now the patchouli raspy and tiring. And i dont want to wear it anymore. Projection is remarkable. Probably many others would enjoy this, i admit, but i only like the first hour i am wearing it, when you know there is patchouli but is not all about it. Im torn: I love the after eight... but around ten o´clock, i dont like it anymore... I guess i am not a Very Irresistible guy.
