the holy grail i've been looking for
if anyone is looking for the most authentic smell of an old post-soviet block basement, look no further - this is perfection. it simply ticks off all the right boxes - there is dampness in the still, chilly air, you can smell the dust evenly covering shelves upon shelves of jars and spiderwebs. there is the earthiness of crates filled with sand to keep the carrots fresh through the winter, gentle vegetal notes of unwashed potatoes and beetroots packed in sacks, and a hint of subtle decay. bonus points for amazing longevity without being suffocating. in the drydown it all becomes dry, woody and pleasant. i will now layer it with other things like there is no tomorrow!
